I couldn't pick just one person for my favorite character, so I picked two. I like Mama from "A Raisin in The Sun." And Tillie from " The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man- in - the - Moon Marigolds. Both of these characters are similar, thats why I like them. Mama tries to do the best for her family. She always thinks about them before herself. She is a very caring, sweet lady. Tillie also cares about her family. But she also realizes she can overcome her troubles, and break the cycle of abuse in her family. She sees the good in life, and has a very possitive attitude.

My favorite characters in the plays we read

My favorite play out of the books we read

I liked all of the books we read. But my favorite would have to be, The Effect of Gamma Rays On Man- in - The - Moon Marigolds. I like plays that are more serious, like, this one. I actually know a family like this one. So it was easy for me to pay attention. It touches on some upsetting topics in life. Like, how Beatrice treats her children so badly. And it also teaches a lesson about how to overcome the bad things in life. Tillie overcame all of her troubles in life, and we should do the same.

Life Versus Death
Life versus death is like, taking someone's life and killing there self esteem. In the play Beatrice is the one who does the most damage to the family. She treats her kids horribly. Just because she gave up on all her dreams and she had a horrible life now she tries to make everyone elses lives horrible. Instead of having a tea shop like she wanted she is watching Nanny for fifty dollars a week. She is really mean to Nanny. She thinks shes nothing but a walking corpse. Even though Nanny doesn't talk I bet she still hurts inside. Beatrice criticises her kids a lot, mostly Tillie because she is smart just like she once was. Beatrice got made fun of as a kid so she doesn't want her kids to get made fun of because it will make her look bad. Its not just her kids and Nannys hope that she is killing. But, she is also letting her surroundings die. Her house is a disaster. She is also mean to the poor rabbit named Peter. Which is why I picked this picture. She hurt him by litterally taking his life. And that also really hurt Ruth and Tillie so much.

Dreams
Dreams can be future goals you want to achieve or they can also be what you think about during the day or an unexpected thought in your dream when you sleep at night. This picture reminds me of Beatrice because she has had a lot of her dreams crushed and broken. She got married way too soon in life and had two kids. What she really wanted in life was to open a tea shop or become a dancer. But having a husband at the time and children it really wasnt an option for her. Now I think she regrets her past decisions and that's why she treats her kids so badly. She has built up so much hate and anger up inside herself that she hates the world and she takes it out on her kids. Tillie also has dreams in life. She loves science and she loves school. She loves the atom and thinks its beautiful. I think she will end up actually fulfilling her dream because she is smart and has a positive attitude. She sees the best in everything in life. And Ruth has the other kid of dreams I talked about at the beginning. She actually has nightmares when she sleeps. She has seizures because of a lot of her nightmares.

Self Image
Self image is the way people look and how they see themselves. This picture goes with the topic because Ruth and Beatrice both see themselves different than a lot of other people see them. Ruth puts on a lot of make up and wears tight clothes so she looks more adult. Like like this picture the cat looks in the mirror and sees himself a lot older. Actually completely different than what he actually looks like. That is just how Ruth is. I bet if she didn't wear all the make up and tight clothes she wouldn't look the same. She just wants to fit in with the popular crowd. Beatrice had a really bad life. She was also made fun of at school. So now she is trying to make up for it by trying to make her self look better in the way she thinks looks good. Tillie on the other hand doesn't care about her appearance. She is happy with herself just the way she looks. She sees the beauty in everything. But Ruth is embarrassed by Tillie, because she likes science and about everything to do with school. Ruth gets over that though when she found out that Tillie had won the science fair. Then, she figured if she would brag about her then it would make herself look better.

Triumph in the Face of Adversity
I think this picture goes really good with this topic. Adversity is like, going through something hard in life and overcoming it and moving on. This guy in the picture and the saying below reminds me of Tillie. She has a terrible life but, she still moves forward with her life and holds her head up high. Beatrice on the other hand is just the opposite. If she were in the picture the rain would be pouring all over her because she lets her past get in the way of things. She has a really bad attitude and she is a bad mother to her girls. She should let the past go and live life happy in the present. And move on with the future. She is way too bitter and you can tell that she is miserable. She has been hurt a lot in her life. But, its better to overcome your past. She needs to let it go and stop making her children have a bad life like she did.

Degrassi is my favorite TV show. I love it! I watch it almost every day! I love all the drama. Just as long as its not in my life of coarse. I love all the suspense. I like how you can't wait to see the next episode. The cast is absolutely amazing!
